VF – 98, Christendom – 68
After a grueling 4-hour bus ride (which the cadets, oddly enough, seem to enjoy), we arrived at Christendom College in Front Royal, Virginia. Shaking off the grogginess, the team had an hour to warm-up (stretch, shootaround, etc.). Off the tip, Valley Forge got out to an early lead. Although we were undermanned (8 to their 15), we found a way to beat them with our speed and ability to hit the three ball. Our set offense looked good as well, and we hit the defensive boards hard. At half, we had a 10 point lead. The Trojans came out for the 2nd half with intensity. We extended our lead with the help of Thomas Darden who had 22, Shumeek Scott who had 29, and Emmanuel Pittman who had 18. Mostly, though, it was our defense that did the job. Christendom was held to a lowly 28 points in the second half. It was an impressive victory for VF, and the cadets were invigorated the whole bus ride back.

Harford CC—132 VFMC—71
The VFMC men's basketball team traveled to Harford Community College for Monday’s game. The beautiful court in Maryland featured a double-header with the college women playing at 5 and the men playing at 7. The game began as fast paced as a game can be. Valley Forge exploded into an early lead. With 10 minutes left in the half, the game was even. By halftime, Harford had pulled away with their depth on the bench and their speed. Valley Forge was undermanned, and the men were exhausted. At the start of the second half, we exploded yet again and cut the Harford lead to 16. Unfortunately, Harford’s bench brought too much speed and the game was taken away in the last 15 minutes of play. Although the game looked un-winnable, the score was not indicative of the level of play. Valley Forge played with ferocity and never gave up. They should hold their heads high.
