Interdisciplinary 104-Leadership in Society
An interdisciplinary course focused on the development of individual leadership skills. This course provides a basic understanding of leadership and group dynamic theory and assists in developing an awareness of one’s own ability and style of leadership. Theoretical concepts, moral, and ethical responsibilities of leadership are emphasized through substantial readings of classical sections of the Great Books as well as contemporary writings. Readings are supplemented by extensive use of applied exercises in group settings and selected films. Drawing from the concepts of psychology, management and communications theory, leadership skills in communication, decision making, conflict resolution, team building, empowering others, and time management are addressed.
Three hours per week; three semester-hours credit.
