French 101-102 - Introduction to French I and Introduction to French II
Prerequisite for French 102: French 101 or satisfactory performance on standardized placement exam.
This two-semester introductory sequence provides instruction and practice in the four skill areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. These courses focus on the development of communicative skills in oral and written expression. In-class and independent language laboratory exercises support these objectives. Emphasis is placed on cultural readings which enhance language acquisition and foster an awareness and appreciation of the French-speaking world.
Three hours per week; three semester-hours credit, per semester.
French 201-202 - Intermediate French I and Intermediate French II
Prerequisite for French 201: French 101-102 or advanced placement by testing.
Prerequisite for French 202: French 201 or advanced placement by testing.
This two-semester intermediate sequence is designed to enable students to attain a functional level of proficiency in both oral and written contexts. These courses focus on the strengthening of communicative skills through practical vocabulary development and a review of basic grammatical structures. Emphasis is placed on the examination of cultural readings that explore issues from historical and contemporary perspectives, highlight Francophone practices, personalities, and achievements, and help students to develop an appreciation for the diversity of French-speaking cultures.

Spanish 101-102 - Introduction to Spanish I and Introduction to Spanish II
Prerequisite for Spanish 102: Spanish 101 or satisfactory performance on Placement Test.
