All students earning an Associate of Science degree from VFMC are required to complete specific courses in Math and Science, totaling 16 credits to fulfill degree-specific requirements. Students not entering at the Calculus I level may still claim a Science concentration as their major, but they will apply to all courses leading up to Calculus I. The above requirements are needed by all students in order to graduate.
Life Sciences
The Associate in Science Life Sciences program offers students the opportunity to explore an array of science courses which span the fields of Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, and Environmental Science. In conjunction with the broad based liberal arts education afforded to all students, through completion of the VFMC core curriculum, the VFMC Life Sciences program prepares students to pursue further study in an array of science related specializations which include the fields of health, human services, medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, laboratory work, and pharmaceuticals.
All students who chose the Associate in Science Life Sciences as their area of concentration, are required to complete the following courses, totaling 15 credits:
| BIO 101 |
Principles of Biology I |
| BIO 202 |
Principles of Biology II |
| MA 112 |
